3 Magic Words: A conversation with film director Michael Perlin

Michael Perlin is a young director and part of a new emerging genre of directors creating movies with a spiritual message. Making those kinds of films is challenging as the money to fund them is not readily available.  Many of them are self-produced, driven by the passion of the directors to share the messages with the mainstream. Perlin’s inspiration for his film 3 Magic Words came from the book Three Magic Words: The Key to Power, Peace, and Plenty written by Uell Stanley Andersen in 1954. He produced the film without funding and very little experience. He taught himself graphics, special effects and post production. Production took four years. The movie was shot on a green screen in his apartment in Los Angeles where he conducted one hour interviews with all the participants in the film. Many of them inspired his spiritual journey as a teenager. Powerful messages of best-selling authors Neale Donald Walsch, Gary Renard, Debbie Ford, Dolores Cannon and others are supported by spiritual concepts from eastern mysticism to western new-age thought.
Throughout the film quotes by philosophers and spiritual leaders including Ernest Holmes, Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, John Lennon, Plato, Sai Baba, Einstein, Osho, Swami Muktananda, Sri Ramana Maharshi, and others are featured on the screen. The movie builds suspension to lead the viewer to the unveiling of the “three magic words” at the very end. During the film, Perlin maintains an unbiased, sometimes humorous tone while interviewing people from all walks of life, professions and spiritual denominations. He catches people in the street off guard with a camera and microphone and asks them profound questions like “Who are you”? He is very cautious of not turning the movie into a boring documentary as he weaves beautiful graphics, contrasting color with black and white images, and music into a mesmerizing story. Perlin shares, “Even if you are not a metaphysical buff or ‘spiritual seeker,’ just changing your perception of the world and seeing people as an expression of yourself can already begin a shift into the new consciousness, a dimension of love and unity without separation.”

3 Magic Words was picked up by Warner Brothers and is now being introduced internationally to Brazil, Hong Kong and South America. Perlin’s future plans are to produce metaphysical dramas inspired by the science fiction he grew up with such as Star Trek and The Twilight Zone.

Metaphysical Filmmaker Claims Three Magic Words Can Change The World and transition us from a "religious" planet into a "spiritual" one.

Filmmaker, Michael Perlin started Starseed Films in 2007 as a metaphysical film company dedicated to the unity of all people regardless of race, religion, or nationality. With the release of his popular new-age film, “3 Magic Words” he created the “Declaration of Consciousness” and took the movie and the declaration on tour around the world. "The problems we face in the world; hunger, war, poverty etc., are still going on because we live mostly on a "religious" planet and not a "spiritual" one." said, Perlin. So what does it mean to live on a spiritual planet? Perlin says on a global scale, religion divides and spirituality unites. He says that spirituality is embracing a new reality, one that unifies all things, and leaving the old paradigm of separation and division. In his early years he searched for a common theme in all of the great spiritual philosophies to deliver the message in "3 Magic Words".
"Bhakti Fest", a festival in its fifth year, is a vehicle for the evolution of human consciousness through yoga, kirtan and meditation. The festival was the Birthplace of the "Declaration of Consciousness". The gathering of initial signatures began on the day of its announcement in London on December 21, 2012, as part of the European premiere of the movie, "3 Magic Words". The movement seeks to have the Declaration signed by global leaders and more than ten million world citizens. They plan to present it to the United Nations for possible adoption. The goal is to awaken "the grass roots of humanity" of each nation and culture through the signing of the Declaration while sharing the experiential, conscious message through music, media, education and entertainment.  The original Declaration has been placed in the world’s largest esoteric library, located in the Damanhur Community in the Piedmont area of Northern Italy. The Document has now been translated into 58 languages and is circulating worldwide. The Declaration of Consciousness returns to its Birthplace at Bhakti Fest this Fall, Gathering Signatures for Much Needed Evolution in Human Consciousness.
The initiative calls for a unified effort for individuals, organizations and countries to settle their disputes with non-violence; basic human rights and spiritual liberty for all humanity; honoring and treating women equally; care, preservation and nurturing of the planet, and upholding and spreading of peace on earth. The movie and the movement signals a global shift in consciousness as represented by the document. The movie, "3 Magic Words" is stamped with a "C" for Conscious Film. In the fine print it reads, "An open mind is advised". With an open mind the movie and the Declaration can inspire hope, empowerment, trust and a deeper understanding of our connection to the universe. It can also be a great vehicle to open family discussions about life, connectedness, love and God. The public at large is invited and encouraged to add their support through signing electronically on the organization’s website. The DeclarationofConsciousness.org

3 Magic Words Film Review by Whole Person - Oct 2012

When I was invited to view Michael Perlin’s well-crafted documentary film, which asks the audience to chant en masse, the magical 3-word mantra,  I admit, I was skeptical for two reasons. First, because I believed the film would be very polarizing and threatening to religious conservatives, and second, as a follower of “A Course in Miracles,” I have been
very comfortable believing I was a child of God in whom God is well pleased, but to say I am actually God himself, well, wasn’t that blasphemous? As it turns out, the only blasphemy here is to sell ourselves short of the infinite power we possess. In 3 Magic Words, different people are asked, “Who am I?” and through interviews with authors, vignettes of a gorgeous
young truth-seeker (Gabriella Ethereal), and visual art and motion graphics, we begin to piece together a feeling-realizationthat we are the one life, the one truth, the one way, and only within our own minds can we solve the mystery of existence.

The film is imperfect: it suffers from a lack of technical prowess at certain points; the dramatic sequences with Ms. Ethereal
pull us out of the film’s narrative (mainly because she is a bit too sexy for the subject matter); and occasional speeches from
the film’s host (Cameron Smith) are static, dry, and without any visual cutaways, which led this viewer to become impatient.
Overall, however, the message is not damaged by these shortcomings. The dozens of interviews never seemed overwhelming and broken into bite-sized chunks. The humorous quips of author Gary Renard bring a much-needed levity to the film, as
most of the speakers are more serious in tone. The musical score adds enchantment and mystery as the film builds to its central
message. The visual palette is often rich, and the authors, such as Kute Blackson and Neale Donald Walsch, appear as
specters, floating beings, in tropical landscapes. This device works well, and keeps us in a contemplative mood, preparing us to know that we are Divine. All in all, the film, at a running time of 71 minutes, does keep us engaged, and offers hungry spiritual
viewers a feast of  words and images upon which we can digest, and when the film finally arrives at its main point, we are prepped
and ready to own it. Some of the funniest moments in the film come when Perlin interviews people on the street, asking them if
they are okay with being God. Predictably, they are not ready for that responsibility. The film also hammers home the message
that once we take responsibility for the fact that we are creating our own personal suffering by inflicting pain upon others and our
environment (from which we are not separate), we can truly have the peace and joy that we all desire.
The movie also has the potential to convince people that we are not simply bodies, and bodies are
only a reflection of what we want to see. In truth we are limitless. This concept is one that may perturb the mind of one who has yet to taste the divine, but those who are ready, will enjoy it immensely. Perlin and his producer Maura Hoffman, plan to tour the film across the U.S. this fall and then in London this December. The film is also available on DVD and
streaming through their website. An ambitious effort like this, which took four years to produce, is not as easy to make as it looks, as the film has dozens of authors interviewed, many locations, and many minutes of graphics and effects which
are time-consuming to create. If you have the financial means, I recommend funding filmmakers like Perlin to make
more projects with these messages. As for my skepticism as to the mass appeal of this film and its polarizing nature, I’ve realized people are more prepared than I previously thought. As the Course in Miracles says, “A good teacher must
believe in the ideas he teaches, but he must meet another condition; he must believe in the students to whom he offers
the ideas.” Michael Perlin truly believes in us and trusts us with his message: We are God. Seekers (and finders) of truth
will be well pleased with this offering from Starseed Films, while the majority of us movie lovers are still lookingfor that seminal film that will merge art and enlightenment. CAN THREE MAGIC WORDS CHANGE THE WORLD?

Can a film change the world? I was recently honored with a screening of the new documentary 3 Magic Words.  This is something that I had been waiting for since I first saw the trailer.  I was very excited to be able to see the film and frankly, I was not disappointed by any means.  The new film, by Michael Perlin, is brought to us by Starseed Films and features some of the spiritual communities big names including Neale Donald Walsch and Gary Renard among other favorites and is currently available for screening in theaters around the country and world, and is also available for screening online.
What becomes apparent in the trailer is that there are 3 magic words that will change your life.  Perlin invited a slew of gurus and teachers in the field of spirituality to discuss the basics of discovering yourself and who you truly are and what the three words are that can change everything.  The 71 minute film offers a beginner’s guide to self discovery and a philosophy that has become a widely held belief and is even evidenced in many of the sought after spiritual texts of the world.  It does this while following a self destructive young woman who has recently awoke from a coma and doesn’t know who she is, and the process of that journey.
The visual journey Perlin takes you on is also a beautiful and serene setting with almost fantasy like backgrounds and visuals and is accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack.  The very act of watching the film is comparable to a relaxing meditation session being guided by some of the wisest beings in the world.  No matter what kind of mood you’re in before watching the film, you’ll be magically transported into a whimsical place that will facilitate the process of higher frequency thoughts and intentions.
While it seems the film’s message was intended for beginners on the spiritual self discovery path, there is still much wisdom from such great minds that its still a good film for viewers who are more advanced on their journey.  Films of this type always seem to inspire the philosopher inside of us and 3 Magic Words does that in the span of your lunch break at work, or the bus ride home, an intelligent move on Perlin’s part to make this an even simpler film to watch for those periods of the day we need to segment our intentions and readjust our thought process after the negative energy we’ve encountered throughout the day.
Overall, this is a film that shouldn’t be missed by anyone at any spiritual level.  The attention to detail, knowledge and wisdom the film offers should be appreciated and its easy to see how much of his heart and soul Michael Perlin put into the film.  Whether online, in the theater or when it is released on DVD, put this on your must see list.  I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised as well.

3 Magic Words: The Movie; Reviewed by Emily A. Filmore

“The day everyone accepts the responsibility of being one with God is the day we make our world
more peaceful, loving and spiritual.”
-Michael Perlin
This film is a beautiful representation of the Universe and our place within it. It ponders the questions “Who Am I?” and “Why am I here?” Filled with breathtaking images and music it encourages us to explore ourselves, our souls and our role in the universe. Guided by commentary from philosophers, authors, teachers and artists, (including Kute Blackson, Neale Donald Walsch, Debbie Ford, and Susan Shumsky) the film will assist you in awakening to Who You Really Are.

The “3 Magic Words” which are revealed toward the end of the film may feel like a bit of a surprise to
you; yet at the same time they will feel like a mantra your soul has been repeating over and over and over again. Parents will enjoy the message and will be excited to share it with their children. Children will love the imagery and even though some of it might seem “too complicated” compared to what we believe our children can understand, they remember more than we realize and they will feel the truth, the love and comfort of the “3 Magic Words.” This movie will fill you with hope, empowerment, trust in yourself and a deeper understanding of your connection to the source! It will also be a great vehicle to open family discussions about life, connectedness, and love/God/Source/The All!
**As always, we encourage you to preview material prior to sharing with your children. At the beginning of this film there is some content which alludes to drugs, alcohol and possible self-harm – which is used as a vehicle to open the discussion about why it is important to know who you really are, what you are here for, and challenges you might face. However, this portion is short lived and does not in this writer’s opinion detract from the entire film. You may choose though, depending on the age of your child, to fast forward through this part if you feel it is too heavy of content for your child.**

The Declaration Of Consciousness

We have won! Consciousness has won a long war after so many battles through the history of humanity.” Thus began The Declaration ofConsciousness announcement delivered in London on December 21, 2012, as part of the European premiere of the movie, “3Magic Words.”The Declaration of Consciousness was drafted by eight people from different cultural backgrounds. Tapasyogi Nandi from India and Michael Perlin of the United States invited others they knew were involved in consciousness movements to meet together in Joshua Tree, California, in September 2012. Other co-writers included Melissa Athens, and Laura Fox of the United States; Vitaly Safarov and Bell Beatrice of the United Kingdom; and Gudni Gudnason of Japan. Together they wrote the manifesto and agreed on two ambitious goals: they want to gather ten million signatures and, secondly, they plan to present the document to the United Nations. The gathering of signatures began on the day of its announcement in London. The core founders of the document and those attending the ceremony signed at that time. The original Declaration of Consciousness was then placed in the world’s largest esoteric library, located in the Damanhur Community in the Piedmont area ofNorthern Italy. The Declaration has now been translated into 58 languages and is circulating worldwide. The public at large is invited and encouraged to add their support through signing electronically on the organization’s website. The Declaration of Consciousness is a call for all the people of earth to come together in love and unity. As part of this process, the document supports the following principles:•The settling of disputes based on inalienable universal human rights.

•Honoring the feminine.
•Respect for the elderly.
•The ending of all wars.
•Encouragement of love for all people regardless of their race, religion or culture.
•The protection of our planet through changes in energy systems.
•The reduction of consumption to avoid pollution.
•New systems of ecological and sustainable distribution of resources.
•The provision of benefits of the world’s resources more equally to all peoples.

Two historic documents served as starting points for the coalition who wrote The Declaration of Consciousness. The first was The Declaration of Rights enacted inEngland in 1689 to protect individuals and the parliament from the tyranny of the monarchy. Thomas Jefferson then referred to this document when he wrote theDeclaration of Independence in 1776. The momentum for recognition of basic human dignity has been building for over 300 years and the critical mass in the consciousness of humanity is rising. The time for action has arrived. The creators of the Declaration are dedicated to elevating the overall consciousness level worldwide. The movie,“3 Magic Words,” produced by the main author, Michael Perlin, lays some of that consciousness-raising groundwork. The documentary film is based on ancient mystical teachings and spirituality. Perlin explains that he was searching for something simple and easy to understand that would tie together all the spiritual teachings from all cultures. He feels that religion divides and spirituality unites. The movie is about self realization and using that power to change yourself and the world. Maura Hoffman, co-producer of the film, states, “The film is an experience. It invites you to ask yourself who you really are and to look at your purpose here.”Showings of “3 Magic Words” also offer opportunities for people to sign theDeclaration in person. The next presentation will be on August 15 at Sunrise Ranch inLoveland, Colorado, during their AriseFestival. Another showing is scheduled for the Bhakti Festival on September 5 in JoshuaTree, California. The film and Declaration then travel to Mumbai, India, on October 3. The Declaration of Consciousness is an Intent of Action. It is a powerful symbol of the consciousness of all humanity. The Declaration activates the adoption by the United Nations, the signatures of global leaders and of all peoples. It is a representation of all global consciousness movements.
